Choosing The Right Pasture Mix Seed

The best pasture mix depends on your farm's system requirements. Some paddocks need to carry stock through tougher periods, some need to recover quickly after grazing, and others are there to improve soil condition over time.

Pasture Grass Seed NZ FAQs

I’m on a tight budget but still need pasture cover… what should I use?

We’d recommend our EcoQuad mix. It’s a cost-effective pasture mix seed that gives you basic grazing and soil cover, with clover helping return nitrogen to the soil.

Can I use a pasture mix to improve an existing paddock without fully resowing it?

Yes. Most of our mixes are designed for repasturing or stitching into existing swards.

Are all pasture seed mixes suitable for horses?

No, we always recommend choosing a mix that’s been specifically designed for horses. Our Calm Healthy Horses Mix is free from hormone-disrupting legumes, low sugar grasses and contains nil endophyte to provide safe, stagger-free grazing.

Can I use these pasture mixes outside standard grazing paddocks?

Some suit more generic use, but not all. If you need seed for orchards, vineyards, or cover crops, a purpose-built mix is usually the better choice.
